The line-up of the core defense team of former President Rodrigo Duterte has been completed, lawyer Nicholas Kaufman said. “Our core team is now fully completed,” Kaufman told Filipino reporters at The Hague. However, Duterter’s lead counsel declined to reveal who are those in the core team and will let the International Criminal Court (ICC) reveal who they are. Kaufman noted that “the court hearing in The Hague there is not a Filipino lawyer but it doesn’t mean we don’t have Filipino lawyers helping us.” “There are many Filipino lawyers who want to help and are helping at the goodness at their hearts and there are many talented Filipino lawyers,” he said. The core defense team will be representing Duterte ICC where he is facing charges of crimes against humanity over the extrajudicial killings that were during his drug war. For his part, Kaufman has expressed commitment to handle the case until its resolution. “I am here to stay. I will fight for Mr. Duterte until the end,” said the ICC-accredited lawyer. Related Posts
